Caitlin: By the Places
important places for food, friends, and family
Lake Chabot, Castro Valley, CA. This lake is within walking distance of my house, and is one of my favorite urban escapes.
Santiago, Spain. End of the camino de Santiago (a pilgrimage I hope to walk) and home of the best €2 sangria in the world.
MoPOP Museum, Seattle, WA. After graduation, my mom and I drove here all the way from Oakland to see the Star Trek exhibit.
Cafe Van Kleef, Oakland, CA. This bar in downtown Oakland almost exclusively serves fresh-squeezed Greyhounds - my favorite drink.
Rosmuc, Co. Galway, Ireland. This is the tiny village where my grandfather grew up in a thatch cottage. My family still owns the cottage - and a bog.
St. Felicitas Catholic School, San Leandro, CA. I attended this school (with the same class of 30 kids) for 9 years. I still dream of wearing the red plaid skirt.
Noah's Bagels Westwood, CA. I owe every single passing grade to their unlimited coffee refills and poppy seed bagels.
Kelton Ave., Westwood, CA. My first college apartment, where I ate boxed Mac n Cheese with my best friends for 2 years.
Porky's Pizza Palace, San Leandro, CA. Serving up my hometown's best pizza since 1963. And don't forget - Thursday is Banjo Night.
